Visit the Arlington Veterans Memorial web site

Great Southwest Rotary established the Arlington Veterans Park Foundation to facilitate the development of a memorial to honor those who served in the armed forces of the United States. The memorial, in the city’s Veterans Park, will be a place where people may reflect on the contributions of these so honored and recognize those who made the supreme sacrifice in combat.

Schrickel, Rollins and Associates, Inc.

A joint outreach of Rotary and the community, the memorial will be fully accessible and scaled both to allow for individual meditation and to be a gathering space for special events.
The memorial will express a profound gratitude and respect for all veterans who served protecting our freedoms.

Veterans Park Memorial Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Veterans Park Memorial Groundbreaking Ceremony on Saturday, March 4, was a huge success! Over 100 veterans and citizens attended the ceremony. Special guests included Mayor Cluck, Councilwoman Kathryn Wilemon, State Representative Kent Grusendorf, Medal of Honor recipient Col. James L. Stone and family members of Spec.Russell Nahvi who was killed in Iraq last October.

Pomp and circumstance abounded with the US Marine Corps Color Guard, music from area high school musicians, words of wisdom from Col. Stone, recognition of the Nahvi family and a simulated dynamite blast to break ground. Thanks to everyone who helped make this groundbreaking ceremony such a memorable event!
