Congratulations to our first graduating class from the junior
development program at ATC!
Not all players could be present for the photograph, but all high
schools had the opportunity to be represented in the program., as
well as a few kids from local junior highs, and at least one
home-schooled player.

The junior development program at ATC was a joint effort by
Arlington Tennis Center, Arlington Tennis Association and our high
school coaches to bring talented kids together for intensive
training, twice each week. In addition to the on court skill work,
emphasis was placed on nutrition, conditioning and sportsmanship.
The students were also given a spot in several local tournaments.
Requirements for participation in the program included 1)
demonstrated ability, 2) dedication to improvement, 3) grades ("B"
average minimum) and 4) commitment / attendance. Participants
included promising future stars to high school varsity players.
Response to the program in 2007 was overwhelming, and we had dozens
of parents whose children were not in the program inquire as to how
their children could be included. This spring and summer, ATC will
again partner with ATA and AISD to roll out a refined junior
development program, and we hope to expand the program to even more
students in 2008.
