Lake Arlington Golf Course to Close for
Renovations
Lake Arlington Golf Course is about to get its first major
renovation since it opened in 1963. The project consists of
renovations to all eighteen regulation greens, the practice putting
green and the #1, 2 and 10 tee boxes, as well as turf conversion of
all eighteen fairways.
The renovation project will bring the greens and fairways up to
industry standard and improve customer expectations and
satisfaction. Additionally, the food and beverage area will undergo
improvements and the clubhouse will be painted.
“This is a project that is much needed to provide a quality facility
that meets the playing needs of our customer,” said Evonne Sandas,
Director of Golf for Arlington Parks and Recreation.
In order to make the renovations, Lake Arlington Golf Course will
close April 1, 2008. Golfers will be able to enjoy one last round
before the closing at the “Out with the Old... ” tournament
Saturday, March 29.
A grand reopening and “...In With the New” tournament is scheduled
for Labor Day weekend, August 30th through September 1st, 2008. The
clubhouse will remain open for customer convenience throughout the
renovations but with reduced hours of operation.
The project is projected to run about $700,000 and will be funded
from a combination of 2005 voter approved Parks Bond Program funds
and gas lease revenue.
Lake Arlington Golf Course is a traditional eighteen hole par 71
facility which sits on 185 acres that blends open and tree-lined
fairways, long challenging par 3’s and scenic greens set to appeal
to every level of player. The course offers challenging golf along
with a practice putting green and chipping area. The clubhouse
features a full line pro shop, club repair and snack bar
concessions.
