Preserve and enhance one of the community's most valuable natural resource and asset - its municipal forest of trees on public property, including boulevards, parks and other city properties.

The City of Arlington plays an active role in tree maintenance and beautification. This is evident by the City’s participation in Tree City USA, which is a program designed to promote natural beauty throughout urban areas. Trees bring a sense of peace, hope and prosperity to our surroundings and the City of Arlington is proud to be part of this program. The City of Arlington has been a member of Tree City USA since 1999 and has won two Growth Awards. These awards are given by the National Arbor Day Foundation, and only 57 other cities in the state have such an award.

Arlington is proud to boast over 5,000 trees located on street medians. These trees are regularly maintained and provide a beautiful natural setting to the city’s urbanized communities. The City also has a tree farm located in Randol Mill Park. Over 325 trees are protected and maintained for growth and maturity. The trees are utilized for replacing damaged trees on medians, dedications and special projects.

The Wildlife program is also part of the City’s Forestry Division and depicts the dedication Arlington has to preserving the area’s natural habitat setting. Birdhouses have been installed along some of the linear parks and these houses can be “adopted” by groups or individuals who wish to participate in the program. Program involvement requires a year commitment and experience documenting nesting habits out in the field and reporting. If interested in this program please contact us through the contact information provided on this site.

The City of Arlington is proud of its efforts to promote the natural environment found in North Texas. Through its participation in Tree City, USA and other programs, the City achieves a level of beauty and prosperity that is truly admirable.
