Arlington voters went to the polls to elect City Council
members to represent single-member districts 1 and 2 and at-large districts 6
and 7.
There were two propositions on the ballot:
Proposition 1 is a proposal to create an Arlington
Transportation Authority and levy a proposed sales tax increase not to exceed
one-quarter of one percent to fund a transit service plan. If approved, the City’s
sales tax would increase to 7.5 percent. The current sales tax is 7.25 percent.
Proposition 2 is a proposal that would authorize the
Arlington City Council to exchange nine acres of irregular tracts of Bowman
Branch Linear Park land for 14 acres of private land. The land is located on the
south side of the Webb Community Park.
