City Earns Two National Marketing Awards in Video
Production
The City of Arlington Office of Communication has won two
national awards for video projects that market Arlington as
a premier destination for business.
The Savvy Awards Competition, sponsored by 3CMA City-County
Communications and Marketing Association, recognizes the
best in communications marketing, which includes television,
video, publications and digital tools. The Savvy awards were
presented during the 3CMA National Conference in Scottsdale,
Ariz.
Entries from cities and counties from all over the U.S. were
submitted by population group and judged on overall
accomplishment, measurable outcomes, creativity, quality,
content and budget. 3CMA is a leading organization for city
and county governments that are innovating new and better
ways of communicating. The association was founded in 1988
and has over 5,000 members.
The Office of Communication is a division of the Financial
and Management Resources Department. The video projects were
coordinated by Digital Media Editor Michael Nimocks.
About the Projects:
FBI National Academy
In 2008, the Arlington Police Department led a successful
effort to win the bid for the 2012 FBI National Academy. The
video created by the Office of Communication was used during
the bid selection process held in 2008 at the FBI National
Academy in Minneapolis. The video highlighted Arlington
culture, community and location. The entire project was
scripted, edited and produced in house with assistance from
the Arlington Police Department.
Champion Arlington
In 2007, the City of Arlington ramped up its economic
development efforts and enhanced many of the city’s
marketing tools, which include web pages, newsletters and
videos. The objective of the Champion Arlington video is to
market the city to the business community as a place to
live, learn, work and play while highlighting recent
economic success stories such as the International Bowling
Congress, Cowboys Stadium, and the Arlington Decorator’s
Warehouse. The video was produced with assistance from the
city’s Economic Development Office. Watch the Champion
Arlington video at
