City of Arlington and Texas Rangers Partner for Green
Team Event
Arlington Green Team Members to be recognized at July 30
Game at Ballpark
The Texas Rangers and the City of Arlington Department of
Environmental Services today announced a partnership to
promote the Arlington Green Team.
When the Rangers host the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, July
30, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, members of the
Arlington Green Team will be recognized and their names will
be posted on the center field scoreboard, according to
Commercial Recycling Coordinator Tim Yatko. Employees of
member organizations attending the game will be presented
with Green Team T-shirts.
The Minimizer, Arlington’s recycling mascot, will throw out
the ceremonial first pitch. The Rangers will also debut the
Green Team public service announcement, a 30-second spot
starring Rangers left-fielder David Murphy. Game time is
7:05 p.m.
“We are pleased to have the Rangers partner with us on this
event,” said Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck. “We are getting
the word out about commercial recycling while recognizing
the Arlington companies and non-profits that have made such
an important commitment to the environment.”
About the Green Team Program
The Green Team is the city’s commercial recycling
program. To join, applicants must be a business or
non-profit located in Arlington, recycle at least three
different materials, and agree to track and report annually
how much they have recycled during the calendar year.
The Texas Rangers Baseball Club is a member along with more
than 90 other businesses and non-profits in Arlington. Last
year, members recycled about 15,000 tons of recycling, which
is the equivalency of a line of recycling trucks 10 miles
long.
Funding for the Green Team program is made possible by the
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the North
Central Texas Council of Governments.
