Cluck is Elected to the Advisory Board of the U.S. Conference of Mayors

Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck has been selected to serve on the advisory board of the United States Conference of Mayors. The announcement was made during the final session of the conference’s 77th annual meeting held this summer in Providence, Rhode Island.

Mayors from across the nation gathered for four days at the Rhode Island Convention Center, June 12-15, to discuss policy issues that impact urban America and metropolitan areas.

The advisory board consists of mayors who are members of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and active in advocating policy on Capitol Hill.

The USCM is a nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are 1,139 such cities in the country today, each represented in the conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.

Mayor Cluck said he was honored by the selection.

“As a member of the advisory board, I will continue to work to ensure that federal policy meets the urban needs of our communities,” he said. “I will continue to help strengthen federal-city relationships as the official voice of America’s mayors in Washington.”

The Conference holds its winter meeting each January in Washington, D.C., and an annual meeting each June in a different U.S. city.

Cluck has been Arlington’s mayor since 2003. He is also the vice president for Medical Affairs at Arlington Memorial Hospital, a position he has held since 2002. Cluck holds memberships on many boards and commissions, including the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, North Texas Commission Clean Air Coalition, Texas Cities Clean Air Coalition, Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition Executive Board and North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee Board of Directors.
