USTA National Open Championships Returns to Arlington
The 2009 USTA National Open Championships Girls Tournament
is returning to the Arlington Tennis Center, May 16-20. This
year marks the ninth year the award-winning facility has
hosted this national competition. The Arlington Tennis
Center is located at 500 W. Mayfield Road.
The championship begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Doubles
finals will be played on Monday, May 18. Main Draw Singles
Finals and Third/Fourth Playoff, as well as Consolation
Finals, will be played May 20.
Top players from around the country in the girls' 14 age
division will be competing in the five-day event in singles
and doubles. The top three finishers in the singles and all
four finalists in doubles will automatically be accepted in
the singles and doubles draws at the National Clay Court
Championships this summer.
Approximately half of the competitors in this year's
tournament are from Texas, including the Dallas/Fort Worth
Metroplex, Tyler, El Paso, Amarillo, Austin, Houston and San
Antonio. Other competitors are from California, Connecticut,
Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina,
Oklahoma and Oregon.
