New Program Promotes Participation in City Parks and Libraries
Residents Find Fun, Adventure and Value in Their Own Neighborhoods
The City of Arlington announces a new program that encourages
residents to get out and be active. The Passport Arlington program
offers opportunities to explore Arlington’s parks and libraries,
while winning discounts and prizes along the way.
With the Arlington Passport, participants can explore fun at the
city’s more than 4,000 acres of park land, golf courses, recreation
centers, swimming pools, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, sport
fields, nature trails and a world-class tennis center, according to
Gary Packan, the city’s assistant director of Parks and Recreation
Department.
Participants can also re-discover the value and convenience of
neighborhood libraries, which offer a variety of educational
opportunities, services and programs for children and adults.
“With Passport Arlington, we want to see more residents finding
fun, adventure, value and convenience in their own neighborhoods,”
Packan said.
“Passport Arlington rewards participants for getting out and
being active,” he said.
With the passport, participants collect stamps by visiting city
parks, libraries, walking trails and special events, while winning
prizes and discounts along the way.
Getting an Arlington Passport is easy. Passports are $10 each and
can be purchased at the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department
Administrative Building on 717 W. Main Street, or by visiting any
city recreation center or public library. To learn more about
