Background
The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Arlington is the
fifth and newest member of the family of Levitt Pavilions across the
country. It is the only one in Texas.
Arlington’s Levitt Pavilion was made possible by the Friends of the
Levitt Pavilion Arlington in partnership with New York-based
Mortimer Levitt Foundation. The foundation provided $250,000 in
capital funds towards the construction of the pavilion and committed
to five years of additional funds for programming at $250,000 per
year. The Friends of the Levitt Pavilion raised $1.2 million for the
project. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation awarded the project a
$100,000 grant. Other funding sources included park fees and a
Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development.
Friday’s concert features headliner Brave Combo, a two-time
Grammy-award winning band. Known for polka music, this Denton-based
band incorporates a number of dance styles into a mix of rumba,
cha-cha, choro and samba.
