PRESS RELEASES - OCTOBER 2008
October 3, 2008
Walmart Helps to Enhance Arlington’s Forest
Webb Community Park Benefits from $10,000 in Trees and Irrigation
Who: City of Arlington
What: To host Webb Community Park Tree Planting Ceremony
When: 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 7
Where: Webb Community Park, 1100 Mansfield Webb Road in
Arlington, 76002
Why: Walmart has given $10,000 to the Webb Community Park for
24 new trees and irrigation. The donation comes from the Walmart
Market 462 stores, which includes the Walmart Super Centers on South
Cooper Street and Randol Mill Road in Arlington.
In addition to providing beauty and shade, Parks officials say the
extra trees will provide a natural sound buffer between the new
soccer field and neighborhoods. Trees are good for the environment
because they moderate climate, improve air quality, conserve water
and harbor wildlife.
Tuesday’s ceremony will include Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck,
Walmart representatives and officials from the Arlington Parks and
Recreation Department and River Legacy Foundation.
