Arlington Tennis Center Earns National Award
Representatives from the United States Tennis Association will be in
Arlington tonight to present the 2008 Outstanding Facility of the
Year Award to the Arlington Tennis Center. The award presentation
will occur at 6:30 p.m. during the Arlington City Council Regular
Meeting in Council Chamber, 101 W. Abram St. in downtown Arlington.
Parks and Recreation Director Pete Jamieson and Tennis Center
Manager Sheryl Osborn will accept the award. The winner was
announced September 1 at the USTA Semi-Annual Meeting in New York.
"The USTA is proud to honor the Arlington Tennis Center for its
commitment to providing the highest quality tennis experience,” said
USTA Chief Executive Kurt Kamperman. “They are helping to raise the
standard by which all tennis facilities are judged.” The Arlington
Tennis Center was judged on the quality of its programs, staffing,
special events, facility appearance, amenities and adherence to USTA
standards. “It is a tremendous honor for our facility and staff to
have been selected to receive this award,” Osborn said. “Our
customers and the Arlington Tennis Association are at the heart of
our success and share this award.” Earlier this year, the tennis
center manager and her family received the USTA Texas Section Family
of the Year Award. The Arlington Tennis Center has also won five
other national awards and six sectional awards. The Arlington
Tennis Center is located at 500 W. Mayfield Road. Learn more about
