ARLINGTON EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER OPENS SHELTERS
Grace Community Church and North Davis Church of Christ are Opened
for Evacuees
Who: City of Arlington Emergency Operations Center
What: The City of Arlington has been tasked to receive up to
450 evacuees
When: EOC opens two shelters Friday, September 12, 2008
Where: First Shelters Grace Community Church, North Davis
Church of Christ
Why: Preparing to receive evacuees displaced by Hurricane Ike
from the Texas gulf coast and the east Texas region.
Emergency Operations The City of Arlington Emergency
Operations Center has opened two shelters in Arlington in
preparation to receive evacuees from the Texas gulf coast and the
east Texas region. Additional shelters are readied for activation if
necessary. The City is currently preparing for approximately 450
evacuees.
Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck signed a ‘Declaration of Local
Disaster’ on Thursday, September 11, 2008, effectively implementing
the City’s Emergency Operational Plan.
In addition to Grace Community Church and the North Davis Church of
Christ, the Emergency Operation Center has two additional shelters
on standby in the event they are needed including one for pets.
