Arlington Parks and Recreation Unveils Contest with Naming of
Mascot
“Where’s Buddy?” Contest Starts July 7
Arlington Parks and Recreation will begin the “Where’s Buddy?”
contest July 7 to promote the naming of their mascot, Buddy Blue.
Each week for the next nine weeks, a three-foot cutout of Buddy
Blue will be hidden somewhere in one of Arlington’s facilities, such
as parks, golf courses, swimming pools, tennis center or recreation
centers. The first three people to find Buddy Blue each week will
receive prizes. To win, find Buddy Blue, take a picture of him and
send it to
parksdepartment@arlingtontx.gov along with a description of
where you found him. The first three to submit correct photos will
win that week’s prize.
To help you find Buddy, Arlington Parks and Recreation will post
hints on their website,
www.naturallyfun.org. A new hint will be given each day of the
week until Buddy has been found three times. The hints will include
fun facts about the location where he is hidden.
The “Where’s Buddy?” Contest was started to promote “Naturally Fun”,
the new brand of Arlington Parks and Recreation, as well as the new
name for the department’s mascot, Buddy Blue. “Naturally Fun”
promotes the City’s outdoor and athletic facilities and encourages
citizens to take part in recreational programs. The program also
highlights the greenery of Arlington and hopes to educate people on
how to protect the natural environments this city abides in.
The new name for Arlington Parks and Recreation’s mascot was chosen
by a committee from 100 entries in an internal contest for
employees.
