Event
The Arlington Parks and Recreation will host its second Naturally
Fun Neighborhood Event at noon Saturday, June 21 in Bob Cooke Park.
The park is located at 2025 Craig Hanking Drive in east Arlington.
The event was planned and coordinated with neighborhood
organizations. Dwayne Long, president of Briarhill Neighborhood
Association, was pleased with the first Naturally Fun Neighborhood
Event at Fish Creek Neighborhood Park on June 14.
“We commend those in the Parks and Recreation Department for
their partnership with our association during the planning phases
and for the execution of the plan,” said Long. “Events like Saturday
are valid proof that Arlington is serious about invigorating
neighborhoods.”
More than 500 residents attended the first Naturally Fun
Neighborhood event and more are expected at Saturday’s event,
according to Marketing Manager Kelly Drawdy.
Saturday’s Naturally Fun Neighborhood Event will feature free
swimming at Helen Wessler Play Pool from 10 a.m. to noon, kayaking,
dunk-a-cop activities, soccer clinic and neighborhood picnic. Other
activities include a Touch-A-Truck exhibit with fire, EMS, and
police vehicles, nature and animal programs, obstacle course
inflatables, games, crafts, and fitness walking activities with
audio books. Food will be free to all attending the neighborhood
picnic.
“We’re providing residents with opportunities to strengthen
relationships and improve the quality of life within their
neighborhood,” said Gary Packan, Assistant Director of Arlington
Parks and Recreation.
Another Naturally Fun Neighborhood Event is being planned for
September at Don Misenhimer Park and Vandergriff Park. For more
