Lake Arlington Lights Up for Independence Day
Entertainment, Vendors, Lighted Boat Regatta, Firework Show
Start July 3

WHAT: 2nd Annual Light Up the Lake
WHEN: 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3
WHERE: Richard Simpson Park, 6300 W. Arkansas Lane
WHY: To celebrate the birthday of the United States of America and
the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
About the Event
Free community celebration includes live entertainment, vendors,
bounce houses, arts, crafts, lighted boat regatta and a 20-minute
fireworks show on Lake Arlington. The fireworks show will begin at
dark.
Event planners are expecting more than 20,000 spectators. The public
is invited to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities.

During the event, the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department will
launch a citywide Naturally Fun competition. Contest details to be
unveiled at the celebration. Winners will receive Naturally Fun
summer gift packs, which include free passes to city recreational
facilities and swimming centers.
Light Up the Lake is sponsored by the City of Arlington and major
sponsor, Chesapeake Energy. Other event sponsors include Exelon,
Olenjack’s Grille, Siemens, General Motors, Arlington Yacht Club,
and the Fort Worth Weekly, who sponsors live entertainment on the
main stage.
