PRESS RELEASES - JUNE 2008
June 9, 2008
Community Volunteers Partner with City to Focus on
Neighborhoods
Arlington Work Camp Begins This Week
Who: City of Arlington and Arlington Work Camp
What: To lend a helping hand by painting homes and cleaning
residential properties.
When: Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, June 9 through Wednesday, June 11
Where: Various residential properties in Arlington (see attachment)
Why: Instead of summer fun at a recreational camp, these groups are
working. Youth ministries from area Churches of Christ are banning
together to paint homes, provide yard cleanup and maintenance to the
homes of citizens with special needs or financial hardships during
the Arlington Work Camp. This is the third year the City of
Arlington Community Services Department has partnered with the
Arlington Work Camp to help identify homes and match volunteers with
families in need. This week, approximately 10 homes will be cared
for by teams comprised of 15 to 20 volunteers.
“Arlington Work Camp is a great opportunity for the young people
involved to reach out to their community and share their time and
energy,” says Community Services Inspector Casey Hill. “If we can
help link a resource with a need, then everyone wins and the
community becomes better.”
Non-profit service organizations looking for neighborhood
improvement projects this summer can call the Community Services
Department at 817-459-6777, ext. 4111, or e-mail
Casey.Hill@arlingtontx.gov.
