More about the Smartest Yard of the Week Contest
The contest recognizes Arlington residents and businesses who use
native and adaptive plants, flowers and trees that require less
water, pesticides and fertilizer to thrive in the dry, hot North
Texas climate.
The contest is developed around the Texas SmartScape program, which
shows North Central Texas residents how to conserve water, beautify
the landscape, and attract native butterflies and wildlife while
reducing storm water pollution.
Each week beginning Memorial Day, a different landscape in Arlington
will be presented as the Smartest Yard of the Week. Photos will be
posted on the City of Arlington website at
www.arlingtontx.gov/environmentalservices.
The competition ends Labor Day, September 1, 2008.
Submit nominations to Project Coordinator Roni Crotty at
Roni.Crotty@arlingtontx.gov or call 817-459-6587 for more
information.
