overlooked until a catastrophic tragedy occurs. During Building
Safety Week and all year long, building safety officials and fire
prevention officials are working to build safe communities.”
About Building Safety Week
First observed in 1980, Building Safety Week is sponsored by the
International Code Council, a membership organization dedicated to
building safety and fire prevention.
Building safety and fire prevention codes address all aspects of
construction, including the structural soundness of buildings,
energy efficiency, sustainability, plumbing and mechanical systems,
and the reliability of fire prevention and suppression systems.
