Construction on Pleasant Ridge Road Started This Week
The Bridge at Rush Creek Will Close May 12
Who: City of Arlington
What: Pleasant Ridge roadway improvement project
When: Construction started this week. The Rush Creek Bridge is
scheduled to close on Monday, May 12. Bridge demolition is set for
May 14.
Where: Pleasant Ridge Road from Kelly Elliott Road to Bowen
Why: To widen Pleasant Ridge Road to four lanes
Park Springs Boulevard, from Pleasant Ridge Road to I-20, will also
be widened to four lanes. Pleasant Ridge Road and Parks Springs
Boulevard are currently two-lane, county-type roads.
About the Project
The $11.7 million project includes drainage improvements, bridge
work, landscaping, street lights and 8-foot-wide hike and bike
trails on the south side of Pleasant Ridge Road from Park Springs
Boulevard to Rush Creek. This project also includes the realignment
of Pleasant Ridge Road at Kelly Elliott Road.
Contractors have scheduled the demolition of the bridge at Rush
Creek for May 14. It will remain closed for approximately 12 months.
The entire roadway improvement project is scheduled for completion
in January 2010.
This project is funded by City of Arlington street bond funds
authorized by voters in 1999 and Tarrant County bond funds approved
by voters in 2007. The contractor is Lacy Construction of Dallas.
