PRESS RELEASES - March 2008
March 18, 2008
Lake Arlington Golf Course to Close April 1 for $700,000 in
Renovations
The Lake Arlington Golf Course will undergo its first major
renovation since it opened more than four decades ago in 1963.
Renovations are scheduled for all 18 regulation greens, practice
putting green and the #1, #2 and #10 tee boxes. Turf conversions
will also be completed on all 18 fairways.
The improvements will bring the greens and fairways up to industry
standard and enhance customer expectation and satisfaction,
according to Golf Director Evonne Sandas of the Arlington Parks and
Recreation Department. Also, the food and beverage area will undergo
improvements and the clubhouse will be painted.
“This project is a much needed upgrade to provide a quality
facility for the playing needs of our customers,” Sandas said.
In order to make the renovations, the Lake Arlington Golf Course
will close for about five months, beginning Tuesday, April 1.
Golfers will be able to enjoy one last round before the closing at
the “Out With the Old” Tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday,
March 29.
A grand reopening celebration and “In With the New” Tournament are
planned for Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 through Sept. 1.
The clubhouse, which features a full-line pro shop, club repair
and snack bar concessions, will remain open throughout the
renovations with reduced hours of operation.
This $700,000 improvement project is funded by gas lease revenue
and park bond funds approved by voters in 2005.
