Arlington Convention Center Development Corporation Announces
Finalists for Expansion of the Convention Center and Full-Service
Hotel
This week, the Arlington Convention Center Development
Corporation announced three finalists for possible development of a
full-service hotel and expansion of the Arlington Convention Center.
They are:
- FaulknerUSA in association with Hilton Hotels Corporation
and Arquitectonica
- Highgate Holdings, in association with Garfield Traub
Development, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Turner
Construction Company, and Leo A Daly
- Phelps Development, in association with Hensel Phelps
Construction Co., Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Assoc., Beck,
K Strategies Group, Inc., and Piper Jaffray & Co.
The next step in the process is to issue a request for proposals
to the finalists. At present, plans include a full-service, national
brand hotel with 300 guest rooms fully integrated with the
Convention Center. In addition to the hotel, 50,000 square feet of
exhibition space and 10,000 square feet of divisible meeting rooms,
plus sufficient parking are proposed for the Convention Center. HVS
Convention, Sports & Entertainment Facilities Consulting (HVS) of
Chicago will assist with the project.
Key dates in this process are:
- March 4, 2008 – Development proposals due
- April 2008 - Select a proposal and development team for
consideration by the ACCDC Board of Directors.
