Fun and Free Holiday Event for the Family at
Arlington’s Nighttime Parade of Lights & Tree Lighting Ceremony
Saturday, December 8 at 6 pm
The Holiday Lights Parade in Arlington, sponsored by the
Star-Telegram, has become a family holiday tradition for the
Metroplex. With lighted floats illuminated by thousands of twinkling
lights, holiday music, Santa and the lighting of the city tree, this
event is a must see for families in the Arlington and surrounding
areas.
According to downtown Arlington Parade Committee Co-chairpersons Don
Duke and Joni Wilson, “each year more groups and organizations are
participating with lighted floats or musical presence inspiring the
true meaning of community and tradition”. Joni Wilson says this
year, “we’ll see more floats than ever” plus Santa will be in the
Central Library after the parade for kids to visit while parents
take photos.
Don Duke recommends that spectators bring their own seating and
“select a comfortable vantage point along Abram or Main Streets
between West and Center streets by 5:30 p.m.” The parade is
approximately 1 ½ hours long. It will start at 6 p.m.
The city tree is set-up in front of Arlington City Hall at the
corner of Abram and Center. Don’t miss the excitement of the annual
tree-lighting at the end of the parade.
