Third Annual MLK “Sharing the Dream” Awards Nominations
Process Begins Entry Deadline is Friday, November 30
The nomination process for the Third Annual Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. “Sharing the Dream” Awards is under way. The community awards
program is sponsored by the Arlington Martin Luther King Jr.
Celebration Committee. Nominations will close at 5 p.m. Friday,
November 30. Winners will be announced in January.
There are three entry categories:
The “Sharing the Dream” Award in Education - Nominations are open to
all elementary and secondary school teachers, principals or other
education professionals whose spirit of leadership in education
embodies the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Nominees can be a
Texas educator at an elementary, middle, high school, community
college or university within the city limits of Arlington.
Nominations are open to public, private and charter schools.
The “Sharing the Dream” Award in Government - Nominations are open
to all who have achieved substantive accomplishments in areas of
public policy and/or programs and service that embody the dream of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Nominees can be Texas government employee
at the national, state, county, regional or municipal level of
government. Elected and appointed officials are also eligible.
The “Sharing the Dream Award” in Community Service - Nominations are
open to all who embody the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
through service within their community or neighborhoods. Nominees
can be an Arlington business, church, community service non-profit
organization or individual.

notified in December and formally recognized at the Sharing the
Dream Banquet on Friday, Jan. 18, in the Bluebonnet Ballroom at
UT-Arlington. Tickets for the banquet will go on sale in November.
The banquet keynote speaker will be announced later in November.
