June 29, 2007
Largest Independence Day Parade in State is Wednesday, July 4
Parade begins at 9 a.m. in downtown Arlington
Thousands of spectators will line more than two miles of streets in
downtown Arlington to see marching bands, drill teams and decorative
floats when the state’s largest Independence Day Parade begins
Wednesday, July 4 in Arlington.
The 42nd Annual Arlington Independence Day Parade begins at 9
a.m. This year’s theme is “We The People.”
Bill Kilpatrick, a retired World War II U.S. Marine, will serve
as the parade grand marshal. There are more than 140 entries. Some
of the floats are professionally built, but many are the result of
individual ingenuity by local organizations and businesses.
The parade is broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Channel 95. It
is organized by the Arlington 4th of July Association, a nonprofit
organization staffed by community volunteers.
