50th Anniversary of Lake Arlington is July 3
Light Up the Lake Event to Feature Lighted Boat Regatta and
Fireworks
On Tuesday, July 3, the City of Arlington will host an
Independence Day celebration in conjunction with the 50th
Anniversary of Lake Arlington. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. at
Richard Simpson Park, 6300 W. Arkansas Lane in southwest Arlington.
Light Up the Lake will provide the community with an evening of
sailboat rides, arts, crafts, vendors, dance troupes, martial arts
displays, bounce houses, and a stage featuring live entertainment
from Silver Rail and the Josh Weather Band. The event is free.
Later that evening, Lake Arlington will play host to a lighted
boat regatta and fireworks.
We are excited to be able to offer this free event to our residents
and bring community fireworks back to Arlington, said Arlington
Parks and Recreation Director Pete Jamieson.
Jamieson said the City will kick off the new L.E.A.F. (Lets Enhance
Arlingtons Forest) program during the celebration. The program is a
citywide initiative designed to provide trees to neighborhoods,
businesses and public open spaces.
Event partners and sponsors include the Arlington Yacht Club,
Excelon, General Motors, Townlake Canalview Neighborhood Group, LBL
Architects, National Semiconductor, Olenjack's Grille, Pyrotex, and
Siemens.
