Arlington to Celebrate New Municipal Court
The City of Arlington will celebrate a new Municipal Court with a
ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 26.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. and include Municipal Court
Director David Preciado, Deputy City Manager Ron Olson, Chief
Municipal Court Judge Stewart Milner and Arlington Mayor Robert
Cluck.
Arlington Municipal Court has opened new offices on the first and
second floors of the Municipal Office Tower at 201 E. Abram St. The
court is located adjacent to the George W. Hawkes Central Library
and east of City Hall in downtown Arlington.
The new Municipal Court has more courtrooms, customer service
windows and a multipurpose area for jury selection. The addition of
a full-time judge, two new prosecutors and municipal court staff are
contributing to more efficient service delivery, according to
Municipal Court Director David Preciado.
The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C misdemeanor
citations and is responsible for collecting court fees and fines,
and maintaining all records of the court and setting trial dockets.
The Municipal Court has approximately 72 employees and more than
1,000 people visit the court each day.
Special Note: Good video and photography opportunities of
ribbon cutting.
