Fire Department Encourages Families to Swim Safe this Summer
Free Pool Safety Inspections are Available

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, every year more than 300 children under age 5 drown in residential swimming pools. Nationwide, more than 2,000 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms for swimming pool related injuries.
As the Memorial Day weekend approaches, the Arlington Fire Department is offering free pool safety inspections.

As part of this neighborhood safety initiative, paramedics and firefighters at Fire Station No. 7 are available to teach residents about the importance of restricting swimming areas, posting warning signs, establishing fence pool perimeters and learning CPR. The department has also developed a helpful Pool Safety Checklist.
