El día de los niños at the Arlington Public Library
Children’s Day/Book Day is Saturday, April 28

On Saturday, April 28, the Southeast Branch Library at 900
Southeast Green Oaks Blvd. will host a celebration of childhood and
bilingual literacy.
Activities to celebrate El Dia de los Ninos will begin with a
bilingual puppet show performed by Bowie High School’s LULAC
organization, performances by Bowie High School’s Folklorico Dance
Troupe and salsa dancers, arts and crafts, refreshments, and fun
door prizes.
At 1 p.m., the celebration continues at the East Arlington Branch
at 1624 New York Avenue with a Piñata Party. The program starts with
Mr. Perales as guest reader. Children will make their own piñata, mosaic picture,
and Ojo de Dios. At 2:30 p.m., it’s special bilingual story time and
the breaking of the piñata.
El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book
Day) is a celebration of children, families, and reading which is
held annually on April 30. According to Andi Davis with the
Arlington Public Library, the celebration emphasizes the importance
of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
