$1.2 Million in Savings
Foundation Communities and a Coalition of Arlington Nonprofits Share
the Wealth

The arrival of “paper money” in bags representing an estimated $1.2
million in tax refunds Arlington taxpayers received this tax season.
The delivery will be made by Loomis Fargo and Co. (Please note: The
money is not real.)

Arlington Municipal Building (City Hall), 101 W. Abram St.
Why:
Arlington taxpayers received an estimated $1.2 million in refunds
this tax season thanks to the volunteer tax preparation program
operated by Foundation Communities and a coalition of nonprofit
organizations. These organizations offered free tax preparation
assistance to Arlington taxpayers who met certain income eligibility
requirements and/or seniors who are age 60 and older. Arlington
taxpayers aren’t the only ones that benefit. Much of this tax refund
money flows back into the local economy.
Foundation Communities is a nonprofit organization whose mission
is to provide high quality affordable housing and social services to
low-income families and individuals.
Free tax preparation assistance is among the many services the

Providing and expanding free tax preparation assistance has been
a focus of Arlington Assets for Working Families, which is a
partnership of the United Way, Foundation Communities, Arlington
Human Service Planners, AARP and the City of Arlington. At press
time, AARP tax refund totals were not yet available.
