Proclamation
April 10, 2007
National Public Safety Telecommunications Week is April 8-15. At
6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, the Mayor and City Council will issue a
proclamation recognizing 911 operators and dispatchers for their
dedication to answering the calls for police, fire and ambulance
services.
According to Dee Calton, who serves as the public information
coordinator for Arlington Dispatch Services, Telecommunications Week
started in 1981 as a way to publicly recognize and appreciate the
contributions of public safety telecommunicators.
“This year, in collaboration with the Tarrant County 911
District, we continue the tradition of honoring our 911 operators
and dispatchers,” Calton said. “We value and appreciate their
dedication to service and helping others.”
Arlington Dispatch Services has approximately 80
telecommunicators who answer and dispatch more than 350,000 calls
for service a year.
