PRESS RELEASES - FEBRUARY 2007

Handitran has a New Address
In Preparation for the Move, Administrative Offices will Close Temporarily on March 1

February 23, 2007

The Handitran Administrative Office in Arlington has a new address. On Friday, March 2, Handitran will re-open in its new location at 1101 W. Main St., 76013.

Handitran Manager Juanita Bridges said the new offices on Main Street will centralize internal functions and place the office closer to the Handitran bus lot.

In preparation for the move, Handitran administrative and scheduling offices will be closed temporarily on Thursday, March 1. This closure is not expected to impact scheduled trips. Phone numbers and e-mail addresses will remain unchanged.

Handitran is a division of the Community Services Department. Since 1981, Handitran has been providing door-to-door, shared-ride transportation services for Arlington and Pantego residents age 65 and older. The service is available six days a week. Handitran also provides transit services to people with disabilities regardless of age.

Handitran offers transportation services anywhere within the city limits of Arlington and Pantego. According to Bridges, the City of Arlington recently began scheduling medical and social service trips within a 1.5 mile radius outside of the Arlington city limits. Handitran is also connecting with The T in Fort Worth at bus stops along Eastchase Parkway and Lancaster Road. Handitran is also making daily trips, connecting passengers with the Trinity Railway Express at Centre Port and Hurst Bell Stations.

Customers call on Handitran for travel to and from work, medical appointments, the grocery store, shopping center, and recreational purposes. An estimated 100,000 trips are made annually.

To complete an application, call 817-459-5390 or visit the City of Arlington website at www.handitran.com. A $10 annual application fee is required.
