February 16, 2007
The City of Arlington will cut a ribbon to officially open the new
One Start Development Center. The ribbon cutting is Noon, Tuesday,
Feb. 20, on the Second Floor at the Arlington Municipal Building,
101 W. Abram St.
Tuesday’s ceremony includes Director of Community Development and
Planning Jim Parajon, City Manager Jim Holgersson and Mayor Robert
Cluck. The program includes tours of the newly renovated department.
The city invites the public to a celebration of a complete
makeover in philosophy and technology.
“The One Start Development Center is making development processes
more efficient and effective,” Parajon said. “On the second floor of
City Hall, customers are discovering a fresh, new approach to
working with the City of Arlington on development projects.”
A customer’s first stop is the Information Desk where they are
greeted by a Professional of the Day who directs them through the
development process, which includes permitting, building inspection
and plan review.
“One of the jewels of the new process is the new Engineering
Station,” Parajon said. “Developers can immediately conduct business
without having to schedule an appointment.”
The new One Start Center is also staffed by employees with
development experience in water utilities, health, information
systems, public works and fire inspection.
The Community Development and Planning Department guides the
economic development activities of the city to ensure safe, sound
construction of buildings and structures. The department provides
plans review and inspections, and prepares comprehensive and special
plans to guide sustainable growth in the city.
