The City of Arlington Leads Regional Effort to Bring Super
Bowl XLV to North Texas

City leaders throughout the region would like to see a Super Bowl
played at the new Cowboys Stadium.
On Tuesday, Feb. 13, the Arlington City Council is scheduled to
formally approve a resolution supporting the North Texas bid for the
Super Bowl in 2011. The City Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, in Council Chamber at 101 W. Abram St. The resolution and
declaration of support from the City Council are a requirement of
the National Football League.
During the Afternoon Work Session beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the
Council Briefing Room at City Hall, the Arlington City Council will
receive an update on the bid application process.
The City of Arlington joins the North Texas Commission Board of
Directors and a growing list of North Texas cities who are pledging
their support for the effort to further enhance worldwide prestige
for the region.
A nonprofit Super Bowl Committee has been formed and includes
former Cowboy Quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Roger Staubach,
Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck and a number of business and community
leaders from the region.
“The City of Arlington will welcome Super Bowl XLV and related
Super Bowl activities to the city, and we declare our full support
of the efforts of the Host Committee to bring the most celebrated
sporting event in the world to the North Texas region and the new
Cowboys Stadium Complex,” Mayor Cluck said.
The bid application is due to the National Football League on
April 2, 2007. The NFL will review the bids and is scheduled to
select a site on May 23, 2007.
