Public Hearing about Historic Resources Survey is February 15
February 9, 2007
The City of Arlington Landmark Preservation Commission will host
a public hearing on Thursday, Feb. 15, about the Historic Resources
Survey.
The survey is an inventory of pre-1960 historically significant
structures, buildings, places, and objects of architectural,
historical and cultural value located within the city limits of
Arlington.
The public is invited to attend the hearing, which starts at 6:30
p.m. in Room A of the Arlington Human Services Complex located at
501 W. Sanford St.
Komatsu Architecture, Inc. is leading the Historic Resources
Survey team. Phases I and II are complete.
Phase I updated the 1987 Historic Resources Survey which
documented pre-World War II properties and surveyed all properties
within the boundaries of the Old Town and South Center Street
Historic Districts. Phase II completed a survey of pre-1945
properties that were not identified by the 1987 Historic Resources
Survey.
Phase III started in November. It identifies and records
structures and developments that are over 50 years old from
post-World War II until 1955. This aspect of Arlington’s Historic
Resources Survey captured the attention of Governing, a national
magazine publication which reports on state and local government
issues. Read the article, “Honey, Our House is Historic” at
