Free Tax Help is Available!
Arlington Helps Working Families Save Money
February 9, 2007
The City of Arlington continues a community partnership to help
qualified working families save money this tax season.
Free tax assistance is available to Arlington taxpayers who meet
certain income eligibility requirements. Assistance is also
available to seniors who are age 60 and older. The income tax filing
deadline has been extended to Tuesday, April 17.
Every year, taxpayers miss important tax credits or pay high fees
for tax preparation assistance, said Ashley Owen, director of
Arlington Human Service Planners.
The earned income tax credit is a refundable federal income tax
credit for working individuals and their families. To learn more
about the EITC and how to obtain free tax help, call 2-1-1, United
Way’s Information helpline. Information specialists are available 24
hours a day.
Free income tax assistance is a community service program of the
Arlington Assets for Working Families Coalition. Their goal is to
develop strategies to help working families achieve financial
stability. The coalition includes the United Way of Tarrant County,
Arlington Human Service Planners, Community Tax Centers, AARP
Foundation and the City of Arlington.
