About the Southeast Parkway Improvement Project
Southeast Parkway, from New York Avenue to Sublett Road, is being
widened from a two-lane county type road to a four-lane boulevard.
The project is being completed in two phases. Phase I includes
the reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Southeast Parkway from
New York Avenue to Sublett Road. Phase II includes the
reconstruction of eastbound lanes. Phase II is scheduled to start
next summer. The entire project is scheduled for completion in the
fall 2007.
Other improvements on Southeast Parkway include new sidewalks,
street lighting, retaining walls, pavement markings, storm drain
improvements and water and sewer adjustments. The $6.2 million
project is being funded by street and water bond funds approved by
voters in 2003.
