Road and Bowen Road
Background:
On June 29, 2006, the City of Arlington and the Tarrant County
Housing Partnership broke ground on the Elliott Heights II
neighborhood redevelopment project. The Jordan Lane neighborhood was
primarily sub-standard rental housing until funding from the U. S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development was utilized to acquire
11 properties. Tenants were relocated and dilapidated structures
were demolished in 2005.
The Tarrant County Housing Partnership has purchased the property
from the City of Arlington with plans to build 11 single-family
homes. The homes will be sold to qualified low-to-moderate income
homebuyers. Construction is scheduled to begin within 30 days. The
first homes are expected to be ready for occupancy in late 2006.
Participating Organizations:
Members of City Council are scheduled to attend this
community-building event. City staff from the Community Services
Department, Police Department, Fire Department, Tarrant County
Housing Partnership are among a growing list of participants. The
Jordan Lane Cleanup Day is sponsored by the City of Arlington
Community Services Department.
