PRESS RELEASES - JUNE 2006

Largest Independence Day Parade in State is Tuesday, July 4
9 a.m. in Downtown Arlington

June 27, 2006

Thousands of spectators will line more than two miles of streets in downtown Arlington to see marching bands, drill teams and decorative floats when the state’s largest Independence Day Parade begins Tuesday, July 4 in Arlington.

The 41st Annual Arlington Independence Day Parade begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 4. This year’s theme is “America, The Dream Lives On.”

Organizers are planning to execute a synchronized singing of the National Anthem along the parade route as part of the National Anthem Campaign. The initiative seeks to remind all Americans to treasure the national riches and celebrate unity and value in song.
Geni Waldrop, president of the Arlington Fourth of July Parade Association, said the parade continues to be the community highlight of the year. There are more than 140 entries.

The Arlington Independence Day Parade is dedicated to the following sponsors: Accent Awards, AE Petsche Co., Arlington Independent School District, Arlington Board of Realtors, Inc., City of Arlington, Comcast Communications, Duncan Disposal, General Motors, Rooms to Go, Six Flags Over Texas, Star-Telegram, University of Texas at Arlington and Westlake Ace Hardware.
