“We’re going shopping at Glorypark”
Steiner/Hicks Holdings reveal name for proposed Arlington development

May 26, 2006

Steiner + Associates and Hicks Holdings LLC today took one more step toward finalization of a Town Center project in Arlington, Texas.

They gave it a name.

The co-developers said the mixed use project will be branded Glorypark, a name they called a “complete” description of the much-discussed development in Arlington.

Arlington is the home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers and the future home of the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys. It is a retail/office/residential development that is planned to augment Arlington’s position as one of Texas’ most important regional and national destinations. The developers revealed the name in a briefing session to the Arlington City Council.

The firm hired to brand the project, desgrippes gobé, met with Arlington officials Tuesday to unveil the moniker. When approved, Glorypark could open as soon as fall 2008. It could include 1.5 million square feet of retail space that mirrors Steiner’s Easton Center in Columbus, Ohio and Zona Rosa in Kansas City, Missouri.

Marc Gobé, who is the author of Emotional Branding, headed the project.

“We believe Glorypark will connect emotionally with guests and residents, making it both a destination and brand opportunity. You can attach the name Glorypark to a village, center, drive, square or a parade,” said Gobé. “Glorypark will be an important place for shopping, sports and office space. It will also be an enviable address between Dallas and Fort Worth.”

Gobé said the evaluation process took four months and included meetings with stakeholders. They also conducted numerous focus groups to evaluate naming possibilities.

“We believe it’s a name that has vision, personality, and distinctiveness,” said Gobé. “It’s always tough to re-name a place, especially if the charge is to communicate a new concept and way of life. Glorypark is a name that honors Arlington’s heritage and celebrates its future.”
