The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department will
host its annual Catfish Round-Up from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday April
29, at Richard Simpson Park. The park is located at 6300 W. Arkansas
Lane. The event will also include games, crafts, prizes and
concessions. In case of severe weather, the event will be cancelled.
"Although this will be our fourth annual Catfish
Round-Up, we are excited about having it at Lake Arlington for the
first time," said Event Coordinator Jennifer Lecroy, who works as the
city’s Recreation Program Coordinator.
According to Lecroy, the Catfish Round-Up helps to
educate youth of all ages about fishing. It provides family bonding
opportunities for parents and children. In addition to fishing, the
event will also feature a bounce house and food concessions.
Participants are required to bring their own poles
and fishing equipment. The fishing fee is $5 with one pole limit per
participant. Parents are welcome to fish, but will not be eligible for
prizes. Participants over the age of 17 will be required to have a
valid fishing license in order to compete.
