At the Arlington Public Library in May
The Annual Summer Reading Club Starts May 26

A variety of free, educational activities occur at the Arlington Public Library every month. Here’s what is scheduled in May:

Karaoke Night

Students in grades 7 through 12 are invited to bring their friends and enjoy Karaoke Night at the East Arlington Branch Library from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 5. Snacks will be provided. The East Arlington Branch Library is located at 1624 New York Ave. For more information, call 817-275-3321.

El dia de los Ninos/El dia de los Libros!

Join the East Arlington Branch Library from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, for the El dia de los ninos/El dia de los libros celebration! Activities will include bilingual singing, story time, face painting, crafts and refreshments. This program is free for all ages. The East Arlington Branch Library is located at 1624 New York Ave. For more information about this event, call 817-275-3321.

Introduction to Podcasting

Students 13 to 17 years old are invited to join the Northeast Branch Library at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, to learn about podcasting. Discover how to get started sending audio messages and broadcasting into cyberspace. Participants will use Audacity and iTunes to create the audio content and MS Word to develop ideas and message content. The Northeast Branch Library is located at 1905 Brown Blvd. For more information about this program, call 817-277-5573.

Summer Reading Club 2006 Begins May 26

Arlington Public Libraries will celebrate "Reading: the Sport of Champions" this summer when with the annual Summer Reading Club starts. Children are encouraged to read for pleasure while earning certificates and prizes. Every public library in the city has a full schedule of free programs for children and families. The Summer Reading Club begins Friday, May 26, and continues through July. There are Summer Reading Clubs for teens and adults.
