Sewer Main Break in Kennedale is Contained
Initial Water Samples Show No Evidence of Downstream Contamination

March 06, 2006

A sewer main break in Kennedale has been contained, and Arlington city officials report no evidence of contamination in Village Creek or Lake Arlington.

According to Chuck Vokes, the city’s assistant director of Utilities, Lake Arlington has not been impacted by the sewer pipeline break. Lake Arlington is one of the City Water Treatment Plant’s major sources of water.

"Throughout the day, we will continue to take samples to ensure that there has been no contamination," Vokes said.

Utilities Director Julia Hunt said the City of Arlington appreciates the cooperation of the City of Kennedale in helping to keep the contamination from reaching Village Creek and Lake Arlington.

For more information about this project, call Chuck Vokes at 817-457-7550 or e-mail vokesc@ci.arlington.tx.us.
