Arlington city leaders welcome today’s announcement
from the Dallas Cowboys that the construction management team for the
Cowboys Stadium will include a general contractor and strategic
alliances with two minority-owned firms.
According to a news release issued Tuesday by the
Dallas Cowboys, Manhattan Construction Co., Rayco Construction and 3i
Construction will serve as the general construction management team
for the Cowboys Stadium project. Rayco Construction and 3i
Construction are minority-owned enterprises.
"This announcement demonstrates not only the good
faith effort of the Cowboys, but the success that can be achieved when
we work together," said Mayor Robert Cluck.
"I am proud of the work of the Fair Share Agreement
Committee," the Mayor said Tuesday. The Fair Share Agreement Committee
is comprised of minority Chambers of Commerce, Women’s Business
Council and community organizations such as the NAACP and Arlington
LULAC Council. "We expect this to be the first of many such
successes."
According to a news release from the Dallas
Cowboys, the management team will direct on-site construction of the
new stadium, which will feature a retractable roof, the latest in
artificial turf, restaurants, shops and entertainment activities. The
stadium was designed by HKS architectural firm and will have a
capacity of up to 100,000 fans.
City Council member Robert Rivera said Tuesday’s
announcement is good news for Arlington residents who championed equal
contracting opportunities on this project.
"The citizens of Arlington are excited to hear that
the Cowboys have named minority firms in leadership roles in regard to
the stadium project," Rivera said.
