Arlington Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Joe Bruner will
launch a new neighborhood improvement coalition designed to address
issues of safety and maintenance in multi-family housing communities
as well as monitoring zoning issues, code violations and other quality
of life issues in North Arlington. Joe Bruner represents District 1 on
the Arlington City Council.
At 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 23, Councilman Bruner
will be joined by community leaders and residents during a news
conference to announce the formation of Action North (Arlington
Coalition to Improve Our Neighborhoods). The news conference will
occur adjacent to a North Arlington neighborhood, where residents have
reported ongoing safety concerns. The news conference will be held at
Parkway Central Park at 600 Van Buren.
"The North District has some fantastic individual
homeowner organizations, but has not had an organized group of
community-minded citizens working for the betterment of the entire
district for years," stated Councilman Bruner. "This group will
incorporate and work towards the interests of the entire North
District."
District 1 is bounded by Division Street on the
south and the city limits on the north. Other boundaries include the
Great Southwest Parkway and State Highway 360 on the east and Fielder
Road. Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, The Ballpark in
Arlington and River Legacy Parks are among the most popular landmarks
in this district.
