On Tuesday, November 1, Tarrant County will begin
the initial demolition of structures located in the core project area
of the future Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Eight structures
have been prepared for removal.
County work crews are scheduled to start demolition
work at 7:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Sweetbriar Drive. Only
structures that have been vacated and cleared of hazardous materials
will be removed during this initial phase of the demolition process.
Tarrant County is performing this work in
accordance with an agreement approved on September 13 by the Arlington
City Council and authorized by the Tarrant County Commissioners Court.
Stadium construction is scheduled to begin in 2006. Opening day is
planned for fall 2009.

reasons, no tours or access will be provided to the site once
demolition begins. Please note: Onsite media interviews will not be
available during the tour or demolition.
Site location and parking: Media are encouraged to
take Randol Mill Road east from Collins or west from Nolan Ryan to
Vine Street. Turn south on Vine and go to Ivy Lane. Turn east onto Ivy
and park. Boom trucks are encouraged to park on the south side of the
street and all other media should park elsewhere on Ivy. Please avoid
barricades or coned off areas.

How many structures are scheduled for demolition?
Eight structures have been prepared for removal.
Will all the structures be removed at once?
The eight structures currently scheduled for
demolition will be removed at once. However, not all the structures
will be removed at the same time. As property is acquired in the core
project area, it will be surveyed, prepared and scheduled for
demolition. Only those structures that have been prepared for
demolition will be removed. This process will continue until all
acquired structures have been removed.
Who is doing the demolition?
Tarrant County is doing the work. The City of
Arlington and the Tarrant County Commissioners Court approved an
agreement in September of this year.
Where is the debris going?
The debris will be trucked to the Arlington
Landfill. It will leave the current demolition site via Johnson or
Peach Street to Collins Street and then north to the landfill.
Will any of the demolition debris be recycled?
Concrete and asphalt are easily recycled and
will be separated from the other debris for reuse. In addition,
reusable building materials have been made available to Habitat for
Humanity for resale to assist future Habitat efforts.
How many properties have been acquired?
The City has acquired the rights to possess 124
properties in the core project area.
How many properties remain to be acquired in the
Core Project Area?
Out of 168 identified properties, 40 remain in
negotiation.
When will ground breaking and construction begin?
Ground breaking and construction is planned for
Spring 2006.
