City Extends Core Project Area for Cowboys Stadium

July 1, 2005

The City of Arlington extended the core project area for the future Cowboys Stadium earlier this week. City officials say the extension more adequately addresses accessibility, parking and drainage issues.

The extended core project area includes additional parcels on the east side of Collins Street, between Randol Mill Road and Sanford Street. (See attached map.)

"This continues to be an evolving process," Mayor Robert Cluck said. "After further review with stadium consultants, it has become evident that additional parcels will be necessary to properly serve the drainage, access and parking needs of the Cowboys Stadium."

This week, the City of Arlington began notifying owners of the additional parcels. The Mayor reiterated that the City is making every attempt to voluntarily acquire all necessary property in a timely fashion, to maintain the momentum of the development project. Businesses impacted by the extended project area will be contacted by the City’s acquisition relocation contractor, Pinnacle Consulting Management Group. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2006.

Fair Market Value/Relocation Assistance for Impacted Residents and Businesses

Owner-occupants who posses title to the property will receive fair market value for their property in addition to a lump sum payment in the amount of $22,500 per dwelling, and either of the following two options: a fixed moving expense payment based on a moving expense scheduled published by the Texas Department of Transportation, or reimbursement for reasonable actual moving expenses associated with the relocation of their personal property within 50 miles of the acquired property.

Resident-tenants with temporary use and all occupants of property owned by another will receive a lump sum payment in the amount of $5,250 per dwelling, and either of the following two options: a fixed moving expense payment based on the moving expense scheduled published by the Texas Department of Transportation, or reimbursement for reasonable actual moving expenses associated with the relocation of their personal property within 50 miles of the acquired property.

Businesses in the core project area will receive a lump sum payment in the amount of $10,000 or reimbursement for reasonable actual moving expenses related to the transport of personal property to the new business location. Transportation expenses will be limited to relocation within 50 miles of the acquired property.
