Obtaining City of Arlington Election Results on Saturday, May 7 by Cheryel Carpenter The City of Arlington will post election results at www.ci.arlington.tx.us. From the home page, click on Election Results. The results will be faxed and e-mailed to the news media and posted on the Access Arlington Bulletin Board on City Cable Channel 5.Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, the City of Arlington will broadcast live from Council Chamber, where the results will be announced. You may also e-mail requests to carpenterc@ci.arlington.tx.us According to the City Secretary Barbara Heptig, election results will be canvassed or officially certified on Tuesday, May 17. The oath of office will be administered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 in Council Chamber. If a runoff is necessary, the election would occur on Saturday, June 11. A runoff occurs when a candidate does not secure a majority or more than 50 percent of the total votes cast. What’s On the Ballot? Arlington residents are voting on amendments to the City Charter and electing a Mayor and City Council members from Districts 3, 4, 5 and 8. Voters are also deciding whether general obligation bonds in the amount of $13.6 million should be spent to acquire, develop, renovate and improve parks and open spaces in the city.
