The Arlington Tennis Center will celebrate 10 years of service to the Arlington community on Sunday, May 1. The celebration begins at 1 p.m.

The event is being held in conjunction with the annual Arlington Tennis Association Play Day and features fitness demonstrations, carnival games, refreshments and live musical entertainment featuring recording artist Sara Hamilton. The Tennis Center is located at 500 W. Mayfield Rd.

"We’ve designed activities to demonstrate that tennis is a lifetime, family-oriented sport that is being played and enjoyed by people of all skill levels, from beginner to pro, and ages 4 to 94," said Tennis Center Director Laura Gilbert.

The Arlington Tennis Center opened in 1995 with a full service pro shop and 12 courts. In 2002, phase II construction added eight tennis courts and additional parking. Since its opening, the Tennis Center has hosted the United States Tennis Association’s $15,000 Men’s Pro Challenge, and nine state and national USTA sanctioned tournaments. Every year, the Tennis Center partners with the Arlington Tennis Association and Arlington Independent School District to offer scholarships, equipment and programs to area youth and tennis players with special needs.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the Arlington Tennis Center, go to www.arlingtontennis.net or call 817-459-6163.
